Acton Traveling Discovery Museum
Grade 4
In a continued effort to engage and challenge all students, the fourth grade team created this grant request to incorporate hands-on STEM workshops about Sound Waves and information processing into the science curriculum. In partnership with the Acton Discovery Museum each 4th grade class was able to explore simple wave models while delving into the science of sound and how it travels. Students worked with flashlights, prisms, lenses and a variety of materials to identify key properties of light including how it must be reflected in order to be seen. These workshops supported student learning of the Grade 4 STE Standards for Waves and their applications in Technologies for information transfers, and will carry on to 5th grade!
