What to expect at the Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee will be hosted by Dr. Allan Cameron, Superintendent. Each grade has been assigned a designated timeslot. We will do our best to stay on schedule. The schedule and event details can be found below.
Grade 3 5:30 - 6:15
Grade 4 6:15 - 7:00
Grade 5 7:00 - 7:45
Grade 6 7:45 - 8:30
-
Teams should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time.
-
Teams will be assigned a table when they check in on the day of the event.
-
Each team will compete within their grade level only.
-
Dr. Cameron will read the word and then give the teams 30 seconds to write the word on the white board at their table. At the end of 30 seconds, judges will walk around and check the accuracy of the word. No one is standing up at a mic and spelling - very team oriented with low pressure!
-
Top 3 teams of each grade will receive a medal, with the top team for that grade level winning $100 deposited into a Wrentham Cooperative Bank Account for each member of the winning team.
-
Single Elimination until we have one last team standing.
-
The host will say the word out loud and then the teams will spell the word together and present their word on a whiteboard to the judges. Teams will have 30 seconds to spell the word.
-
Prizes will be awarded after each grade finishes.

2025 Study Materials
Services
Focus on studying your Grade Level words first (50 words). Once you master these words, start studying the School Wide list. You can also download the app “Word Club” for free. This is an alternative way to study and have a little fun in the process!
Each team will have one whiteboard, expo markers, and an eraser to share. Dr. Cameron will be reading the words. Students will have 30 seconds to collaborate and write the word on their whiteboard. If the word is incorrect, the whole team is eliminated. Students do not have to spell words aloud, only write.
Dr. Cameron will start with the grade level list of words (50 words). After multiple rounds using the grade level list and School Wide list, Dr. Cameron will move on to words that are NOT on the student’s preparation lists. If you have mastered the words on both lists, we recommend you download the “Word Club” app (it’s free) and take the “Words of the Champions” quizzes. Students do not have to memorize definitions or capitalization.
