Highlights
Masiello's visit complemented the first grade curriculum by reinforcing key literacy and art skills in an engaging, hands-on way. His live drawing demonstrations supported reading and writing lessons by showing how illustrations help tell a story, develop characters, and sequence events.
His step-by-step drawing approach also connected to art standards, helping students understand shapes, details, and creative expression. Additionally, listening to an author-illustrator discuss his process strengthened speaking and listening skills, while the interactive nature of the visit encouraged imagination, confidence, and participation.
